Who's responsible
Kenny Trappl, operating Retrievly. See the Legal notice (Impressum) for full contact and address details. [Add a Datenschutzbeauftragter / data protection contact if one is required.]
What we collect
Account info: email, display name, optional profile photo.
Location: an approximate area you set for a lost-item request (fuzzed before it's shown publicly), and your device's precise location only if you choose to share it — e.g. to see distances to nearby requests.
Content: request descriptions, photos of the item or search area, messages sent through in-app chat, ratings and reviews.
Usage: basic device/app diagnostics for keeping the service running.
Why we process it
To operate the core matching service — showing requests to nearby searchers and connecting the two sides once someone is picked. To send account, activity, and safety-related emails. To keep the platform safe (reviewing reports, preventing abuse). We do not sell your data or use it for third-party advertising.
Legal basis
Performance of a contract (running the service you signed up for), and legitimate interest for safety/anti-abuse. Where we ask separately — like sharing precise device location — that's based on your consent, which you can withdraw anytime in Settings.
Who we share it with
The other user in a request, once a searcher is picked (exact location, contact within the app). Service providers who host and run the app on our behalf (hosting, email delivery), bound to only use data to provide those services. We don't share your data with advertisers.
Where it's stored
[Name your hosting provider and region here.] If any provider is outside the EU/EEA, we rely on [Standard Contractual Clauses / an adequacy decision — confirm which applies].
How long we keep it
Request text and outcome are kept for a limited period after a request closes for dispute-handling and safety history; photos are deleted once a request closes. Account data is kept until you delete your account, after which your name is replaced with "Deleted user" on any retained history.
Your rights
Under GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or a copy of your data, ask us to delete it, restrict or object to processing, and lodge a complaint with the Austrian data protection authority (Datenschutzbehörde). Reach us at trapplkenny@gmail.com for any of these, or use Settings → Download my data / Delete my account.
Location precision, in plain terms
A request's public location is intentionally approximate. Your exact location is never shown to other users unless you're picked as the searcher for that specific request, at which point the loser's precise spot is revealed only to you.
